The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly is stable now after undergoing angioplasty at the Woodlands Hospital, Kolkata, news agency PTI reported.

The former India captain suffered a heart attack while working out at
his personal gym in the morning. He was rushed to the hospital after he
complained of chest pain.

“Sourav Ganguly has undergone an angioplasty and he is completely
stable now,” doctor Saroj Mandal told reporters outside the hospital,
where crowds had gathered after hearing the news about their beloved former
captain.

“Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is stable now. He will be monitored for 24 hours. He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated,” news agency ANI quoted Dr Aftab Khan of the Woodlands Hospital.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar, who went to see Ganguly, said that he interacted with the left-handed batsman, who was in a cheerful mood. “I am greatly relieved,” Dhankar said.

“He (Sourav Ganguly) is fine now, he even spoke to me. I thank the hospital authority and doctors here,” West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said after meeting Ganguly.

Ganguly was unanimously elected as the President of the BCCI in
2019. He announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2008, having accumulated 7,212 runs including 16 centuries
