In amazing NASA picture, International Space Station seen transiting the Sun

The National Aeronautics and
Space Administration (NASA)
 shared an intriguing image of the
International Space Station (ISS) travelling across the Sun. The ISS is seen in the
image, as if it were a very small object, against the yellow-orange background
of the Sun.

NASA
captured the ISS at seven different points in time and stitched them together
to create a composite image. According to NASA, the ISS was moving at a speed
of about five miles per second about 410 kilometers above Earth.

The image
was captured near Virginia, according to NASA, and the term “transit”
is used to describe the event when one object crosses in front of another in
space. At the time of this transit, astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Thomas
Pesquet were working on the installation of a new roll-out solar array on the
International Space Station. The spacewalk lasted six and a half hours and 45
minutes.

The image has got more than
6 lakh likes. NASA released a stunning video on Friday of one of
the two astronauts clinging to the ISS and working on it, with a breathtaking
view of Earth in the background.
