In pics| Indian Army carries out rescue operations in Assam as floods batter state

Over 60 people have lost their lives as floods continue to batter the state of Assam. The situation in 32 districts, including areas in Guwahati, remains grim with many new localities coming under the impact of the deluge. According to the latest updates by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Assam was witnessing floods and landslides for the last six days, impacting around 31 lakh people. About 1.56 lakh of them have taken shelter in 514 relief camps across the state. Meanwhile, the Indian Army is carrying out rescue operations and relief materials were also being distributed among people who are affected by the floods.
