India was all-out for 336 runs in the first innings chasing Australia’s first innings total of 369 on day three of the series-deciding fourth Test here on Sunday. Washington (62) and Thakur (67) added 123 runs for the seventh wicket as India fought back after losing six wickets for just 186 runs.
Australian pacers tried that early against Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, but the duo looked settled before Pat Cummins dismissed the former on his second ball of the Test match. Rohit Sharma’s brain freeze saw him get dismissed only six runs short of his 12th half-century in Whites. If one had to draw the two days of the fourth Test on a scale, Australia look the side with a major advantage. With only 36 overs being bowled in the Indian innings due to wet outfield, India could hope the conditions to improve and the ball to come on to bat on the generally termed as ‘the deciding day’ of a Test match.
