India records 1,52,879 new COVID-19 cases, highest single-day spike
- 839 people died of COVID-19 on Saturday
- India has vaccinated more than 10 crore people
- There are 11,08,087 active cases in the country
India on Saturday recorded 1,52,879 new cases of COVID-19, the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday showed. 839 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours. With the new cases, the country’s total tally has reached 1,33,58,805 that includes 1,69,275 people who have died.

There are 11,08,087 active cases in the country, while 1,20,81,443 have recovered.
25,66,26,850 samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus till April 10, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said. This includes 14,12,047 samples tested on Saturday.
India started its coronavirus vaccination drive on January 16 and its three phases have since been launched.

More than 10 crore people have received at least one dose of either of the two vaccines, the health ministry announced on Saturday.
Indigenous vaccine Covaxin and AstraZeneca/Oxford’s jab, which is being produced at Pune’s Serum Institute, are the COVID-19 vaccines approved in the country.
