Virat Kohli was dismissed for the second time in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 when he was caught out by Zimbabwe’s Ryan Burl on Sunday, November 6, at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kohli has been India’s standout performer since the tournament began, scoring 246 runs so far.
The 34-year-old’s dismissal came in the final delivery of the 12th over, when Kohli hit Sean Williams right into the hands of Ryan Burl. He played a knock of 26 runs off 25 balls, with a strike rate of 104.00. Kohli also hit two boundaries in his innings.

The dismissal also meant that Virat Kohli could not become the first cricketer to score 4,000 T20I runs. He needed 68 runs against Zimbabwe but was caught out for 26, meaning he still needs 42 more runs to achieve the feat. However, Kohli is currently the highest scorer in the shortest format of the game with 3,958 runs, followed by Rohit Sharma in second place.
India went on to score 186 runs for five wickets against Zimbabwe, with KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav hitting half-centuries. Rahul played a knock of 51 runs off 35 balls with three boundaries and as many maximums. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten for 61 runs off 25 balls, with a strike rate of 244.00.

Yadav hit six boundaries and four maximums to score the half-century. He also became the first Indian cricketer and second overall player to score 1,000 T20I runs in a single calendar year in the game.
Meanwhile, Kohli helped India to an exceptional start in the second innings as Zimbabwe came to bat. He caught Wesley Madhevere for a duck in the very first ball of their innings, helping India to register the first wicket of the match without conceding a single run.
