The IPL mega auction is just a day away, and the Indian Premier League‘s most successful franchise has a lot to think about in terms of their future in the league. The Mumbai Indians, five-time league champions, have kept four of their key players, but they already had a strong squad in place and would need to develop a decent strategy to re-establish their core group.

Captain Rohit Sharma (Rs 16 crore), speed spearhead Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 12 crore), brilliant Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 8 crore), and dynamic Kieron Pollard (Rs 6 crore) have all been retained ahead of the IPL 2022 big auction. Hardik Pandya has already left for the Ahmedabad franchise, Gujarat Titans. The Mumbai Indians have Rs 48 crore in their account and must spend judiciously on players.

The following are five players who the Mumbai Indians should target in the IPL auction:

Trent Boult (Rs 4 crore): The Kiwi paceman has been a standout for the Mumbai Indians and is crucial to securing fast wickets in the powerplay. His chemistry with Bumrah has been fantastic, and Mumbai should try to re-sign him.

Ishan Kishan (Rs 3.5 crore): The small keeper-batter has been a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians squad, and with Hardik out of the picture, acquiring him would be critical. Another factor to consider is Rohit Sharma’s lack of form, and Kishan can bat at the top of the order.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Rs 5 crore): The only area where the Mumbai Indians have been lacking is spin, and Chahal has been a standout performer in the IPL throughout the years. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will battle tooth and nail to reclaim Chahal, but MI would love to steal him away from Kohli and company.

Jason Holder (Rs 6 crore): Kieron Pollard is nearing the end of his career, and Holder will be a good successor in the coming years. He has the ability to take wickets as well as score crucial runs down the order.
