‘It’s fake’: UP board clarifies classes 10, 12 revised exams schedule not released

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, commonly known as the UP Board, has clarified that it hasn’t released a revised date sheet for board examinations for classes 10 and 12. The clarification came after it started circulating on WhatsApp that the board was conducting exams from June 5 to 25.

“The general public is informed that the timetable related to conducting high school and intermediate examinations of the year 2021 between June 5 and June 25 circulating on WhatsApp on May 17, 2021 is absolutely fake,” a notification issued by the board read.

It has advised the candidates to avoid it.

“Action will be taken,” said Divya Kant Shukla, Secretary, Education Council Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj, who further added that the board was getting an FIR registered against those responsible for the fake news, Times of India reported. 

An official with the UP board told the media house that most of the officials were unwell and there was no one to take a decision on when to conduct the exams.

Following the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, the UP board had announced on April 15 the postponement of board exams till May 20. The new exam schedule is yet to be announced. 

Meanwhile, the state on Sunday recorded 17,546 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its tally to reach 1,619,645, reported news agency PTI. With 311 more fatalities, the death toll rose to 10,682.
