Maharashtra reports 31,255 new COVID-19 cases, highest-ever single-day spike

Maharashtra reported 31,255 new cases and 95 deaths on Wednesday, making this the highest single-day COVID-19 spike in the state. A total of 15,098 patients were discharged. There have been a total of 25,64,881 cases registered and 22,62,593 recoveries yet with 2,47,299 active cases in the state.
In India, the infections rose
by a total of 47,262 in the past 24 hours, the highest since November
2021. The government has announced the vaccinations of the citizens who are of
age 45 and above to start from April 1, 2021.
Maharashtra’s Beed
district imposed complete lockdown from Mach 26 to April 4. According to the
order issued, only essential services including grocery stores and pharmacies
will remain open.
Amid the growing
number of COVID-19 cases, the new set of guidelines issued by Mumbai’s civic body
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) exempts vaccinated flyers from UK,
Middle East, South Africa, Europe and Brazil will no longer be required to
complete the mandatory week long institutional quarantine upon arrival in
Mumbai.

The new guidelines
exempts flyers who are 65 years of age, women in advanced stage of pregnancy
and both the parents accompanying children below the age of 5 from
institutional quarantine.
