West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday alleged that the bomb attack on state labour minister Jakir Hossain was part of a conspiracy and few people were ‘pressuring’ him to switch to another party. Mamata made a visit to the SSKM hospital to inquire about the minister’s health, where she also slammed the railways for not functioning properly after unidentified people hurled a bomb at him at Nimtita railway station, Murshidabad.
Banerjee told reporters that it was a preplanned attack on Minister Jakir Hossain. She further added that, it was a conspiracy and some people were pressuring the minister to join their party for the last few months. “Investigation is going on, so I will not disclose more,” she said.

The Medical College Superintendent from Murshidabad has also said that the minister is stable, however one leg and hand got injured due to the attack.

West Bengal chief has already announced a ₹5 lakh compensation for those seriously injured in the attack and ₹1 lakh for people who got minor injuries. She asked railways that, “How can they deny their responsibility over security lapses when the attack happened at a railway station?”
Many eminent political figures like union cabinet minister Piyush Goyal, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and TMC-rebel BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari have condemned the attack.

A total of 26 people were injured in the bomb blast at Murshidabad, Banerjee said. The West Bengal government has given the case in the hands of CID.
