Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who often becomes target of incessant trolling on social
media following his political comments, landed in yet another controversy after
he asked for a Union Ministry for Fisheries without realising that India
already has a Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry.

Rahul, while
addressing the fishermen in poll-bound Puducherry on Wednesday, said, “Why
cannot farmers’ of the sea have a ministry in Delhi?”

Union
Minister Giriraj Singh, who holds the concerned portfolio in the union cabinet,
was quick to take a jibe at Gandhi’s unfamiliarity with his ministry.

Addressing
the Congress leader as ‘Caro Raul’, the union minister took to Twitter and he
kept his response in Italian

“There
is no separate Ministry of Fisheries in Italy. It comes under the Ministry of
Agricultural and Forestry Policies.” Singh wrote on Twitter.

Singh also schooled Rahul about the newly created ministry by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked the Congress leader to meet him to know about the working of the ministries.

Giriraj Singh also said that Rahul‘s statement left him completely baffled.

“I’m astonished to know that a party’s leader is unaware of a separate ministry formed for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying by PM Modi in 2019 and I took oath as its minister. Work is underway in Puducherry and in other parts for the first time.” Singh told ANI

He added that it saddens him that the Congress leader cannot come out of Italy.
