PM Narendra Modi, fans celebrate Indian women cricket win over England

All eyes, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s, are on the Indian women’s cricket team as they go on to give power-packed performances in the T20I in opposition to England Women at County Ground, Northampton. This time, it was Indian skipper Harleen Deol’s sensational catch that caught Modi’s attention and he took to his social media to laud the star player.

He shared the video of Harleen’s exceptional catch from the 1st T20I against England that took place on Friday, on his Instagram story with a caption saying, “Phenomenal! Well done.”

It all happened when the Friday match was in the 19th over of the first innings and England was batting at 166 for 4 when upon noticing Amy Jones advancing off the crease Shikha Pandey bowled in a slower one.

Jones went for the slog irrespective and Harleen Deol stretched well beyond the boundary line to catch hold of the ball, but she trips over, she recovers within a tenth of a second and lobs the ball off to dive back and take the catch.

However, Harleen was not the only one to pull a spectacular catch day, our lady Harmanpreet Kaur was also seen in full form. only moments earlier, Harmanpreet had taken an amazing catch at long-on to return Sciver to the dressing room. Another brilliant stumping later, Shikha Pandey finished the over with three wickets.

However, even though the first T-20 match between the English women’s team and the Indian women’s team at Northampton on Friday did not go India’s way, seems like the prime minister is happy that his team is making waves in international cricket.

But with a powerful team like that, victory can only be delayed, not denied. The girls won Sunday’s T20I as they beat hosts England to level the series.
