Uttarakhand glacier breach: Death toll rises to 77 after 1 more body recovered

The death toll in the last month’s glacier breach in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli rose to 77 after a body was recovered on Wednesday. The body of a woman was recovered from the avalanche-hit Raini village, where three-four women had gone missing, PTI reported quoting official sources.

The woman is yet to be identified.
So far, 77 bodies and 35 human body parts have been recovered from different places hit by the disaster, it said. Till now, 44 bodies and one human body part have been identified.
The DNA samples of bodies that have remain unidentified are being preserved, they said.

The disaster hit Uttarakhand’s Chamoli on February 7 in which 205 people were reported missing.
The Rishiganga hydel project at Raini and Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project at Tapovan were the worst hit by the tragedy that resulted from flash floods triggered by glacier breach.
