A Delhi Police personnel was seen pulling Youth Congress President Srinivas BV’s hair, taking him out of his car at a protest in New Delhi. Several party MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, were detained by police after they staged a protest against chief Sonia Gandhi’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate.

“We are trying to identify the staff. Disciplinary action would be initiated against the staff after identification,” Delhi Police said, as per news agency ANI.

“I was hit. Aap log kyu maar rahe?” (Why are you hitting me?) the Youth Congress president asked, to which an RAF personnel replied, “No one is hitting you.”

Srinivas was taken away from the protest site in a police van.  “In independent India, if Congress workers cannot even come outside their party headquarters, then what’s the point of democracy? Why is the dictator so afraid?” he tweeted.

This is the second day of the Congress president’s questioning by the ED in a money-laundering case pertaining to the National Herald-Associated Journals Limited case. She was earlier questioned by the agency on Thursday.

Rahul Gandhi and the other MPs had assembled in Parliament and marched towards Vijay Chowk on their way to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to draw the president’s attention to the alleged misuse of central agencies by the government, but were stopped by police.

Rahul Gandhi was put in a police bus but officials did not disclose where he was being taken to. The other Congress MPs were detained and taken away in separate police buses.

“India is a police state, Modi is a king,” Rahul Gandhi said.
