From Karan Mehra to Shweta Tiwari: TV celebrities who courted controversies

Whether it is their personal life, shows, or abrupt statements, the Indian small screen has hogged the limelight for all wrong reasons recently. 

From Nisha Rawal filing a police complaint against her husband Karan Mehra to Shweta Tiwari’s ‘tu-tu mein mein’ with estranged husband Abhinav Kohli, small screen celebrities have had their share of controversies.

Here’s a list of some of the controversies surrounding the TV celebs

Karan Mehra: TV actor Karan Mehra, known for his role in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, was arrested after his wife Nisha Rawal, who is also a TV actor, filed a complaint following a fight between the couple, Mumbai Police has said. He was later given bail. The couple reportedly were having troubles in their marital life and we’re trying to sort out issues for a while now.

Shweta Tiwari: The ‘Kasautii Zindagi Kay’ fame actor filed a complaint of domestic violence against her second husband Abhinav Kohli alleging harassment towards her and her daughter Palak. She tied the knot with Abhinav in 2013 after dating for almost three years. The estranged couple keeps targeting each other on social media.

Munmun Dutta: Mumbai police registered a case against television actor Munmun Dutta for allegedly using a derogatory term against a community. The case relates to the remark that the “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma” actor made in a video about make-up, which she had posted on a social media platform on May 9, in which she used a word for a specific community, police said.

Hindustani Bhau: ‘Bigg Boss 13’ contestant Hindustani Bhau had filed a police complaint against producer Ekta Kapoor for showing the Indian Army’s uniform indecently in her web series. The TV mogul had to eventually remove that part from her series.

Piyush Sachdev: The ‘Beyhadh’ actor was arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old fashion designer with whom he was in a live-in relationship for two months. The woman complained that the actor got into a relationship with her after promising to teach her acting skills and prepare her for modelling assignments.
