Erick Sermon confirms death of rapper Hurricane G

American hip-hop fans witnessed one of the darkest days in recent history on Sunday, November 6, when news emerged that popular 90s rapper Hurricane G has died. Hurricane Gloria’s death comes on the same day when another rapper, Tame One, died and a day after the death of popular pop singer Aaron Carter.
Hurricane G has a daughter with Erick Sermon of EPMD and it was the latter who confirmed the news with an Instagram post on Sunday night.

“My heart is hardened today. One of my good friends…. my oldest daughters mother passed away today #HURRICANEGLORIA was also a legend in her own right in the Hiphop community. One of the first puertorican female rappers She rapped with me. @redmangilla she paved the way,” Sermon wrote in the post.
“@keithmurray @diddy she was in all the Hiphop magazines with all the top females at the time.. #stretchandbobito loved a song that she did called “MILKY” She will be missed all around the world. I can’t believe this. Pray for us. Beautiful blessings. She was a beautiful person a wonderful mother as real as they come. We love u G,” the remainder of the post read.
One of the most popular rappers in the United States during the 1990s, the African-Puerto Rican rapper also featured in Redman’s single Tonight’s Da Night’s opening. She also shot to fame in the 1990s and was active for the rest of her life.

Gloria Rodriguez, popularly known as Hurricane Gloria or Hurricane G, released two studio albums in her career, named All Woman (1997) and Mami & Papi (2013). The second album was a collaboration project with Thirstin Howl III, another American rapper. The cause of her death is yet to be made public, however, she is survived by her daughter, Lexus, whom he shares with Erick Sermon.
News of Hurricane Gloria’s death broke only hours after the death of rapper Tame One, who passed away at the age of 52.
