Watch: Pandya, KL Rahul in heated arguement with umpire over no ball call

Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul of the Lucknow Super Giants got into an heated arguement with the on-field umpire over a contentious no-ball decision during the IPL 2022 eliminator game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Batting first, Faf du Plessis and co scored 207 runs at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday.

The incident occured after the first ball of the 12th over. Dushmantha Chameera delivered a waist high full toss on off. Rajat Patidar steered in through point for one. The square-leg umpire Michael Gough took no time in calling it a no-ball.

He signalled to his colleague J Madanagopal, who backed him up with the signal. As a free-hit was declared, Lucknow captain KL Rahul and all-rounder Krunal Pandya approached Madanagopal. 

Pandya was seen shaking his head as the skipper came to join the chat. The umpire then explained the decision to the two, concluding that the ball was high enough to be called a no-ball. Rahul then seemed to be asking Gough if it can’t be referred to the third umpire.

Meanwhile, RCB’s Rajat Patidar scored 112 runs off 54 balls to help his team post 207 runs. The Indore-based batter smashed  12 fours and seven huge sixes on a day when the famed batting trio of Faf du Plessis (0), Glenn Maxwell (9) and Virat Kohli (25) failed to enthrall a capacity Eden crowd.

He along with Dinesh Karthik (37 not out from 23 balls) put on a match-turning unbroken partnership of 92 runs from 41 balls as RCB scored 84 runs in the last five overs to prop up the total.

For LSG, Mohsin Khan (1/25), Krunal Pandya (1/39), Avesh Khan (1/44) and Ravi Bishnoi (1/45) were among wickets.
