Shardul Thakur finished the innings off in style, guiding Delhi Capitals to 215 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 19th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.

Rishabh Pant-led DC slipped from 144/1 to 166/5 before Shardul came in and knocked three sixes and a four to score 29 off just 11 deliveries. The last two overs of the innings went for 39 runs and his partnership with Axar Patel was worth 49 off 20 deliveries (unbeaten).

DC fans took to social media to hail “Lord” Thakur for his flamboyant knock.

Some also pointed out that it was a good decision to send Thakur ahead of Sarfaraz Khan.

“Delhi would have finished in 190s if they had sent Sarfaraz ahead of Shardul,” one user commented.

“Sending shardul was obviously the better decision, sarfaraz was never gonna do that,” another wrote.

“What a move to promote Shardul over Sarfaraz! To chase down this, KKR will most definitely need another special from one of their all rounders,” another Twitter user commented.
