Shardul Thakur is an Indian international cricketer. He is a right-hand batsman and a medium-fast bowler. The 30-year-old plays first-class cricket for Mumbai. He was purchased by Delhi Capitals for IPL 2022

Shardul Narendra Thakur was born in Palghar, Maharashtra on October 16, 1991. In November 2012, he made his first-class debut for Mumbai against Rajasthan in Jaipur.

Thakur started his career on a disappointing note. He picked four wickets in as many games at a bowling average of 82.0.  In February 2014 he made his List A debut for Mumbai in the 2013-2014 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In the 2014-15 Ranji season, he took 48 wickets at an average of 20.81 in 10 games. In the same season, the Delhi Capitals player also finished with five five-wicket hauls. His impressive performance earned him a place in the Indian A squad where he had played 4 games against Australia A and South Africa A in 2015. He made his T20 international debut for India in February 2018 against South Africa.

Thakur was selected to play in Nidahas Trophy in March 2018. During a match against Sri Lanka, he took his career’s best 4-27 wickets that helped India win the match. He was named Man of the Match for the performance. In a short T20 career span, Thakur has managed to play 15 matches and has taken 21 wickets at an average of 21.

In the 2014 IPL auction, Thakur was purchased by Kings XI Punjab. He was later acquired by Rising Pune Supergiants for the 10th season of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings signed him for the 2018-19 season in January 2018.

In 2019, Chennai reached the IPL final, where Thakur took two wickets but fell short by two runs for the win.
