During the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Delhi Capitals must have upped the hammer at nearly every player’s bid. While they backed out of a few players after upping bids, the majority of times, they obtained extremely strong players at a low cost.

Overall, the Delhi Capitals appeared to be the most organised and efficient franchise at the Auction. Except for Shardul Thakur‘s offer, which exceeded Rs 10 crore, virtually all of their purchases seemed well under budget, with a few exceptions. David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mustafizur Rahman were all steals. The Delhi Capitals currently have a great roster on paper thanks to a successful auction, but their strongest anticipated playing 11 appears to be stronger.

Openers:

The Delhi Capitals had a good opening combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw in the IPL 2021. While that combo was incredibly effective, the Delhi Capitals now have a comparable substitute for Shikhar Dhawan in the form of David Warner. The initial pairing of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw is a wonderful one. Warner can build the innings, while Shaw can go wild from the first pitch.

Middle-order:

The Delhi Capitals’ middle-order in 2022 appears to be slightly weaker than in 2021. While Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Shimron Hetmyer anchored the middle order in 2021, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Sarfaraz Khan will do so in 2022. Mitchell Marsh is a good hitter, as seen by his recent WT20 and BBL performances. The no. 5 spot, on the other hand, maybe a difficult one for the Delhi Capitals.

While Sarfaraz Khan’s dynamic striking ability appears to be the best chance at number 5, the Delhi Capitals might also consider KS Bharat, Yash Dhull, Mandeep Singh, or Lalit Yadav at that position. Sarfaraz Khan appears to be the most likely finisher of the five. However, if the Delhi Capitals play Rishabh Pant at 5, KS Bharat, Mandeep Singh, or Yash Dhull at 3 are all viable options.

All-rounders:

When it came to all-rounders, the Delhi Capitals’ first-choice all-rounders were Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel. However, with Rovman Powell replacing Marcus Stoinis, 2022 appears to be a more perilous year. Powell is not only a terrific fast bowler but his striking skill and power are among the finest in the world. Along with Pant, Sarfaraz, and Axar, he may be an excellent finisher for Delhi.

In the meanwhile, in addition to Axar Patel and Rovman Powell, the Delhi Capitals have Mitchell Marsh as their third all-rounder. He may not bowl all four overs, but he can deliver 1-3 overs as needed. The Delhi Capitals now boast a good 7 bowling options, making them one of the few teams with this versatility.

Bowlers:

When it comes to bowlers, the Delhi Capitals appear to be on par with their 2021 combination. While Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, and Ravichandran Ashwin were the only pure bowlers in 2021, Anrich Nortje will be supplemented by Shardul Thakur, Chetan Sakariya, and Kuldeep Yadav in 2022. It’s a good combo, with Chetan and Nortje predominantly in the powerplay and Shardul and Kuldeep mostly in the middle overs.
