Chahal’s delivery went off David Willey’s pads to the leg-side in the ninth over of the game. Kohli went off quickly, sensing an easy single, but Willey was uninterested. Meanwhile, RR’s wicket-keeper captain, Sanju Samson, responded fast by racing to his right, collecting the ball, and throwing off-balance to Chahal at the non-striker’s end. Kohli was well down the track and attempted to make a comeback, but fell just centimetres short. Chahal successfully removed the bails, but the umpire referred it upstairs.
Kohli’s bat was on the line, according to the video replay. The former RCB skipper walked back with a score of 5 off 6 as RCB went three down in the ninth over while chasing a target of 170.

Despite being the best wicket-taker for RCB in IPL, he was not retained by the club before the commencement of IPL 2022 and was eventually signed by Rajasthan Royals for INR 6.5 crore in the February mega auction.
