ISL 20-21: A season of new feeling and hope

Football is back. India’s top flight league, the Indian Super League(ISL), is here for a fresh start. New challenges, new hope, new circumstances but one ultimate goal remains, the crown of Indian football.

The reigning champions ATK had won the title last season, defeating FC Goa in March, just before the COVID-19 pandemic brought the country to a grinding halt.Eight months later, the pandemic is still here and due to that this season will be different.
First of all, the games are spread across just three venues, the Fortoda Stadium, the GMC Athletic Stadium and the Tilak Maidan Stadium, all of which are in Goa. The season will be played behind closed doors with no fans to support their favourite team.

There have been two high profile entries into the league with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, the two giants of Indian football entering the league for the first time. While East Bengal will enter as a team, Mohun Bagan will be reigning champions ATK Mohun Bagan. This will add more spice to an already tasty affair.
