Joe Mixon creates all-time Cincinnati Bengals record, scores 5 touchdowns vs Carolina Panthers

Joe Mixon was on fire against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals running back scored five touchdowns at the Paul Brown Stadium, becoming the only player from the franchise to score as many in regular season. 

The Bengals crushed Carolina 42-21.

Mixon also became 17th skill position player in NFL history to score five touchdowns in a single game. The last one to do so was Jonathan Taylor, who achieved the feat against the Buffalo Bills last year. 

The all-time TD record is six. It is shared by Dub Jones, Gale Sayers, and Alvin Kamara.

The 26-year-old surpassed 5,000 career rushing yards during the scoring drive to open Sunday’s Week 9 game. He became the fifth Bengals player to do so. 

Mixon has 153 rushing yards and four scores on the ground through three quarters. He also has four receptions for 58 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Joe Mixon was projected for 15.18 fantasy points. He, however, scored more than 53. 

“May have to retire from fantasy football lol every week players are having historic nights against my teams. What do you mean Mixon has the 2nd best football fantasy day OF ALL TIME,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Geez, looks like anyone who has Mixon won their fantasy match this week,” another one said. 

“My luck I play against joe mixon when he has a historical fantasy showing. Why me,” a third one added. 

Meanwhile, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had one touchdown pass and rushed for one. Jessie Bates III also had one against his name.
