Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma becomes third player to score 5,000 IPL runs

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma on Thursday became the only third batsman to score 5,000 Indian Premier League (IPL) runs or more in the cash-rich tournament.

He achieved the feat during the IPL encounter against Kings XI Punjab. He is also the fourth player in the list of most IPL sixes after Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni.
En route his 5,000 IPL runs, Rohit hit six boundaries, leaving the Punjab bowlers reeling.

Sharma also has 37 IPL half-centuries to his name.
India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli (5426 runs) leads the list of most IPL runs. Suresh Raina is second on the list with 5368 runs.
