The 2022 NFL season is beginning on Thursday, September 8. In order to become victorious in your league, you will need to strengthen your team with the right players from the waiver wire. Here are your top waiver wire picks to target for week 1, after your fantasy football draft. The player percentages are ownership rates per Yahoo.
Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins (45%)
While injuries have plagued Mostert since 2019, he can become an every-down back. However, he will be playing under coach Mike McDaniel, who has prior experience working with him in San Francisco.

However, Mostert has said that he is 100% fit. His impressive dash speed of 4.34 in 40 yards will be the highlight of his abilities. He registered 10.0 yards per attempt in the pre-season match against Detroit recently. He also has 284 rushing attempts in his career, along with 1610 rushing yards with an average of 5.7 yards per rush attempt.
Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears (40%)
Following his sixth-round draft selection by Chicago in 2021, Herbert has been on the field for more than 300 rushes. He registered 18 carries and 70 rushing yards in four games in the last year but his inability of scoring kept him as the 18th highest-scoring running back in the NFL. However, he is a very good option for a waiver wire pick and according to some experts, he will be starting ahead of David Montgomery this season.
Herbert graded out 84.4 as a rookie runner, more than the majority of running backs in the NFL.
Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (34%)
White was selected by the Buccs in the third round of the draft in April. He registered a total of 224 carries and 57 targets in 15 matches for Arizona State. White recorded a rushing line of 182-1006-15 in 2021 and 43-456-1 in the passing game. He can avoid tackles well and will be a good pick for the long run.
J.D. McKissic, Washington Commanders (33%)
McKissic is Washington Commanders’ first-choice passing down back in the 2022 season. He has ranked second among all backs in targets, receptions and receiving yards in 2020. He was the 17th highest fantasy points scorer in 2020 and 22nd before his injury in 2021.

Mike Davis, Baltimore Ravens (26%)
Davis played for Atlanta in 2021 and was their primary back. He can be best used as a depth back in the pros. Davis will play a lot early in the league. He played 17 games in the last season, registering 138 attempts, 503 rushing yards, 44 receptions and 259 receiving yards. However, his value will come out because of the injury to Dobbins, which has made him the primary back.
Honorable mentions: Ameer Abdullah, Las Vegas Raiders (7%), Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs (31%), Dontrell Hilliard, Tennessee Titans (7%) and Mark Ingram II, New Orleans Saints (22%).
