The India vs Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup at the MCG on Sunday was replete with drama as India’s run chase dragged down to the final ball of the match. From 28 needed off eight balls, the India Men’s cricket team successfully made it to 160 with four wickets to spare, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 53-ball 82 that the former India captain described as the best innings of his career.

As the nerve-wracking run chase came to a close, everyone on and off the field could not contain their emotions. With India sealing a victory off the final ball, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya could not hold back their tears of joy on seeing the team emerge on the right side of history in a tough contest that will be remembered as one of the best T20 matches ever played.

Rohit Sharma, who is captaining India in the T20 World Cup 2022, picked up Kohli and started dancing. Hardik Pandya had departed in the first ball of the final over but came back all teary-eyed and started patting Kohli on the head.

The match was a moment of reckoning for Virat Kohli as he came back to form sluggish year so far where many casually questioned if he had lost his Midas touch. Wife Anushka Sharma celebrated the former India captain’s innings with a heartfelt Instagram post in which she wrote: “You beauty!! You freaking beauty!!”

Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Sunil Gavaskar who were on the sidelines doing their TV duties also could not help but erupt in joy as India beat Pakistan in the final ball. 73-year-old Gavaskar started dancing in joy after Ashwin nudged the final ball down the ground to pick up the winning runs for India.

He kept leaping up and down for quite some time, much to the amusement of Irfan Pathan and Krishnamachari Srikkanth who were standing beside him on the boundary line.
