The NFL has traditionally played games on Thanksgiving Day since its inception in 1920. It included one game hosted by the Detroit Lions since 1934 and another one hosted by the Dallas Cowboys since 1966, each year. But since 2006, by adding a third game in prime-time, it took further advantage of the holiday, turning the halftime into a complete event itself.

Thanksgiving NFL 2022 is to be played on Thursday, November 24, 2022. This will be the 12th week of the 18-week league of the 2022 season.
