Carl Cheffers, referee for the Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders at the Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, was booed after his controversial roughing the passer call on field.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones recorded a six-yard sack against Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr. He stripped and recovered before hitting the ground. What looked like a game-changing play at 17-7, Chiefs were handed a penalty for roughing the passer.

Fans in the stadium booed the officials and people on social media criticised them. Carl Cheffers will likely tell the pool reporters after the game why they called the penalty. On Sunday, Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady benefitted from the roughing the passer rule against the Atlanta Falcons.
