Chicago Cubs’ Trevor Williams was part of six innings as a pitcher and singled twice against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday as they won 4-1 against his former team.

The Cubs took away five out of the six matches while one was given the label of ‘half game’. While Kris Bryant secured three hits and two RBIs for himself, David Bote added a two-run homer to his record.

Since April 17, when he recorded his first win, Williams allowed three hits and one run. Moreover, he also struck out seven players.

Bote said in a statement, “He was fantastic. He was sensational. That was fun to play behind. He was working quick, and the ball was zipping through the zone”, reported CBS.

The 29-year-old, who now plays for Chicago Cubs, was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates in November last year after five seasons.

Willams said in a statement, “I was obviously familiar with their hitters but facing them for the third time makes them a lot more familiar as far as looking at them from the other side. I was able to piece together sequences and just tried to continually attack”, reported CBS.
