A day after Britney Spears‘ scathing Instagram post on Saturday, slamming the years-long conservatorship, her lawyer said Monday they are moving “aggressively and expeditiously” to remove her father from the controversial guardianship controlling her affairs.

A brief Los Angeles court hearing was held to discuss costs for the singer’s professional conservator, who alleged that she has been receiving threats over the globally followed case. Following the hearing, the attorney updated the reporters about the case.

“My firm and I are moving aggressively and expeditiously to file a petition to remove Jamie Spears unless he resigns first,” said Mathew Rosengart, according to AFP inputs.

“We’re working very hard on the documents,” added Rosengart, who was appointed last week after a judge allowed the singer to choose her own representation.

Following her highly public breakdown in 2007, the American pop star was placed under a unique legal guardianship largely governed by her father.

But Spears has become increasingly vocal and public in opposing the conservatorship since a dramatic court testimony last month in which she slammed the system as “abuse.”

In the reveal-all testimony, Spears opened up about her “abusive” conservatorship, asking Judge Brenda Penny to allow her to retain her own counsel and terminate the arrangement.

“I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and it’s enough,” the singer said in her 20-minute address at the court.

The pop star said that, under the legal arrangement, she has been prevented from having a contraceptive implant removed, despite wanting more children.

It had left her “traumatised” and “depressed,” the mother of two said.

“I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane,” Spears said.

Even last week, she repeated and extended on that testimony in court, via phone, and at the weekend wrote on Instagram that she was “not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think.”

Even before Spears asked the court to end her guardianship, her loyal fans had mounted a #FreeBritney campaign, gathering outside court hearings and at rallies across the globe.

“I once again want to thank Britney Spears for her courage and strength,” said Rosengart on Monday.

“I also want to thank Britney Spears’ fans and supporters,” he added.

“The outreach and support for my firm, myself and most importantly Britney has truly been overwhelming, from coast to coast and literally throughout the world.”
