American
singer-songwriter Britney Spears on Monday got the support of Tesla owner Elon
Musk
in her battle against conservatorship. “Free Britney”, the
business magnate tweeted days after the singer went public with her demand to
be freed of the 13-year-long conservatorship that has controlled her life.

Musk’s
two-word post was retweeted 10 k times and got 60K likes within half an hour of
it being posted. The entrepreneur has 57.8 million followers on Twitter.

Britney
Spears has been living under conservatorship, a system under US law where a
guardian is assigned to oversee not just a person’s financial affairs, but also
his or her private life. Spears recently told a Los Angeles judge that she
wanted the arrangement that has controlled her life to end. She also asked for
her father to be removed as her conservator.

“I was
told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a
baby. I have (an) IUD inside of (me) right now so I don’t get pregnant,”
Britney told the court.

Musk’s
tweet comes on the day it was reported that the night before her 24-minute June
23 testimony, Spears had called 911 to report conservatorship abuse.

According
to the New Yorker, the pop star called 911 to report herself a victim of
conservatorship abuse. “Members of Spears’s team began texting one another
frantically. They were worried about what Spears might say the next day, and
they discussed how to prepare in the event that she went rogue,” the
report said about the call and its aftermath.

The
American singer also shared a post on social media, where she apologised to her
fans
for pretending that she was okay. “I am bringing this to people’s attention because I don’t want
people to think my life is perfect because it’s definitely not at all.. And if
you have anything about me in the news then you know it’s definitely not. I
apologize for pretending that I have been okay the past two years.. I did it
because of my pride and was embarrassed to share what happened to me,” she
wrote.
