At least two men were killed in a shooting that took place at the pool of a Newhall apartment complex in Santa Clarita, California, on Saturday.

Authorities with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene around 11 am on Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting at the Village Apartment Homes. The apartment complex is located at 23700 Valle del Oro, just north of Newhall Avenue. The responding officers found two people with gunshot wounds. While one person was lying motionless on the floor of a community pool, the other was lying on a pool chair. Both of them were dead at the scene.

No information about the suspect was immediately available and the motive behind the crime was not known.

The sheriff’s Homicide Bureau has asked anyone with any information regarding the incident to call them at 323-890-5500. Those who want to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website lacrimestoppers.org.

The incident comes a week after a shooting incident in Santa Clarita left one person seriously injured. Sgt. Jason Ely, watch sergeant for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, told local media that deputies responded to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after receiving information of a gunshot victim being dropped off at the hospital.

“Deputies responded to Henry Mayo Hospital regarding a gunshot victim and the call indicated the victim was dropped off at the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound. Investigation is ongoing. At the time, the victim was being treated in critical,” Ely said.
