Terese L. White, a flight attendant from Texas pleaded guilty to drug trafficking after being found in possession of fentanyl taped to her abdomen at the San Diego Airport. 

White, who is 41, pleaded guilty in the federal court and admitted to using her privileges as a flight attendant to get through the Transportation Security Administration for drug trafficking.

“Drug traffickers use air, land and sea for personal gain, putting people’s lives in danger,” DEA Special Agent in Charge Shelly Howe said. “We will continue the great work with our partners to bring traffickers to justice and keep our community safe.”

Who is Terese L. White?

Terese L. White is a flight attendant from Dallas, who was off duty when she attempted to board the plane at San Diego International Airport on October 4. She flew from Dallas to San Diego and then tried to board another plane to  Boston, Massachusetts, with the drugs in her possession, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

White pretended to be a “known crew member” for the TSA screening but was picked up for regular passenger screening instead. During the screening process, she set off the walk-through metal detector and a body scanner.

Some packets were found taped to her abdomen, reveals the complaint against her. She then allegedly told the police that the packets were “not what you think”. She then claimed that they were given by a coworker, and were actually a “mercury pack” to help in weight loss. 

The DOJ said that the packages contained more than 3 pounds of fentanyl. 

She pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 24, 2023, by U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo, facing up to 20 years of prison.

Over 50.6 million fentanyl-laced, fake prescription pills and more than 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder was seized by DEA this year alone, as revealed by the agency a week earlier.
