Tangled is a 2010 animated musical adventure comedy film
created by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney
Pictures.

It is the 50th Disney animated feature movie, and it is
loosely based on the German fairy tale “Rapunzel” from the Brothers
Grimm’s collection of folk tales.

The film depicts the story of Rapunzel, a lost young
princess with enchanted long golden hair who yearns to leave her lonely tower.
She accepts the help of an intruder, against her foster mother’s desires, to
take her out into the world she has never seen.

Composer, Alan Menken, who had previously worked on Disney
animated films, returned to score Tangled.

Tangled took six years to create and costed $260 million, according
to cbr.com. It made it the most costly animated picture ever made and one of
the most expensive films of all time.

The title of the film was changed from Rapunzel to Tangled
before its debut, purportedly to make it more gender-neutral.

Tangled had its world debut at the El Capitan Theatre on
November 14, 2010, and was released to the general public on November 24, 2010.
The picture grossed $592 million globally at the box office. As a result, it
was the ninth highest-grossing picture of the year.

Tangled was nominated for Best Original Song at the 83rd
Academy Awards.
