Elon Musk’s Twitter feed is a mix of philosophical ruminations, political suggestions and views, and a truckload of memes. The world’s richest man has a sense of humour suited for the digital space, and Musk has displayed it time and again. In this instance, he’s gone after Jack in the Box, the fast-food company.

Founded in San Diego, California, in 1951, the fast-food company mainly services the West coast of the US.

The 50-year-old shared a picture of a ‘Jack in the Box’ signpost, that is torn at the side, and the image has a comment at the bottom saying “He finally got out”.

Notably, the term jack-in-the-box also refers to a toy, where a figure has a spring bottom and pops up from the box when the lid is opened.

This is not the first time Musk has joked about a fast-food company either. Soon after news emerged that the billionaire had made a $44 billion takeover bid for Twitter, Musk shared a series of tweets where he said he’d next purchase McDonald’s just to fix their ice cream machines.

His post was a reference to a common refrain and internet punchline that the fast-food chain almost always has broken ice cream machines, leaving some customers dissatisfied. Underneath the humour, however, there is a serious problem with McDonald’s as their machines take a long time to be serviced, leading to problems with customers.

Elsewhere, Musk also said he would purchase coca-cola, the world-renowned beverage, and put cocaine back in it. While the drink did have the now-illegal drug as an ingredient at one time, Musk’s tweet was only made in jest. However, it triggered an analysis of Musk’s net worth, and the valuation of the coca-cola company, after which a conclusion was deduced that the world’s richest man wasn’t rich enough to make a takeover bid.
