Who is Jordan’s prince Hamzah bin Hussein?

Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein, who is the son of Jordan’s former leader, King Hussein bin Talal and Queen Noor Al Hussein, who is of American origin. Prince Hamzah was born on March 29, 1980, in the royal family of Jordan in Amman and had six sisters and four brothers. 

Prince Hamzah was declared as Jordan’s crown prince in 1999 after the demise of King Hussein but was later stripped of the title a few years later by Jordan’s current leader King Abdullah II.

Prince Hamzah has had a strong and traditional educational background, which has been followed by Jordan’s royal family for years. His final step towards taking over the reins of the country was completed in 1999 when he graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in December.

Prince Hamzah is also known for taking a keen interest in sports and outdoor activities. According to his website, the former crown prince enjoys activities like water sports, shooting, para trooping, fishing, scuba diving, fencing and skiing.

Prince Hamzah was recently found in the centre of an alleged coup in Jordan after he was reportedly placed under house arrest in the royal palace while at least 20 people, including top government officials and friends of the prince, were arrested by the authorities.
