Police officials in Washington, D.C. have found five human fetuses inside the home of an anti-abortion/pro-life activist, according to a statement by the Metropolitan Police provided to Rolling Stone on Thursday.
According to the statement, police officials landed upon the appalling scene of the crime on Wednesday, March 30, while responding to a tip about “potential bio-hazard material” at a house located in the neighborhood of Capitol Hill.
According to local news reports, the house was occupied by Lauren Handy, an anti-abortion activist. Earlier this month, Handy, the founder of anti-abortion group Mercy Missions, and eight other activists were accused by a grand jury after the group allegedly restricted access to an abortion clinic in D.C. and filmed the act via a live stream on Facebook.
According to the indictment, Handy disguised herself under the alias of ‘Hazel Jenkins’ and made an appointment at the clinic for 9 am on October 22, 2020.

Checking in as Hazel, Handy and several other activists stormed through the clinic, injuring a nurse during the act. Other activists then went on to block the entrance by tying chairs and sitting on them, according to the prosecutors. The group is charged with two counts- obstructing access to the clinic and conspiracy against rights. Conspiring against rights is a felony with a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.

According to a report on the fetuses by WUSA9, the police officials on the scene removed coolers and biohazard bags. While Handy did not talk on camera, she told the channel that she knew the raid would happen “sooner or later.”
She added that “people would freak out when they heard” about what was inside the coolers.
The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner collected the fetuses and has launched an ongoing investigation.
