Plane debris found on Reunion Island on July 29, 2015, was confirmed to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The Boeing 777-200 disappeared on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board while on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The wing section, known as a flaperon, had been examined in France by international aviation experts. After the first debris was found, it was certain that Flight MH370 had crashed in the Indian Ocean. However, the events that led up to the crash still remain a mystery.

The mysterious disappearance of the plane was discussed in a new Netflix docuseries called MH370: The Plane That Disappeared. Some family members of the victims said in episode 3 of the docuseries that after the flaperon was found, the only thought that came to their mind was who planted it there.
The flaperon was found by a crew cleaning the beach. The fragment was 6-foot-long and encrusted with barnacles.
