Defending champion Evans Chebet defeated fellow Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge to win the 2023 Boston Marathon’s men’s race in an unofficial time of 2 hours 5 minutes 54 seconds. With this win, the 35-year-old became the 6th man to win the race back-to-back. Hellen Obiri won the women’s race.
Following his win, several people hailed and congratulated them on social media.

Who is Evans Chebet?
Evans Kiplagat Chebet was born on November 10, 1988. The Kenyan long-distance runner always completed in the top six of every marathon he had finished. In September 2019, he won the Buenos Aires Marathon in a time of 2 hours and 5 minutes. This was the first international race he won. In March of the following year, he won the Lake Biwa Marathon at 2:07:29.
In December 2020, he won the Valencia Marathon in a time of 2:03:00. He won the race by four seconds, defeating Lawrence Cherono.
In 2022, he creates history by becoming only the third man this century to win both the Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon.
On April 17, 2023, he won his second straight Boston Marathon, beating out fellow Kenyan Benson Kipruto and Tanzania’s Gabriel Geay.
