The video of Jordan Neely, a Black homeless man dancing to a Michael Jackson song inside a moving subway train in New York City is going viral on social media after he died following being placed into a chokehold by an unidentified marine.
The entire thing was caught on camera, where a 24-year-old veteran wrestled Neely to the ground and applied the chokehold. As Neely struggled to free himself from the hold, other companions of the Marine seem to hold his hand back to stop him from wriggling free. Eventually, Neely fell unconscious. Even though he was transported to a hospital by the paramedics, they were unable to resuscitate him.

Since the video of his death went viral, another video of Neely is doing the rounds on social media — one where he is seen imitating the moves of the legendary MJ, whom he was said to frequently impersonate. People who fondly remember his antics and do not agree with how Neely’s life came to an abrupt end are sharing the video. Here it is:
According to NYPD, Neely appeared to be having a mental health episode and had been pacing and shouting on the train.
Freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez, who witnessed the incident, told the New York Post, “He starts to make a speech. He started screaming in an aggressive manner. He said he had no food, he had no drink, that he was tired, and doesn’t care if he goes to jail. He started screaming all these things, took off his jacket, a black jacket that he had, and threw it on the ground.”

Neely had documented mental health history with the NYPD and had been arrested a total of 44 times before his death. His attacker has not been identified by law enforcement and has simply been seen as a blonde man.
As the police investigate Neely’s death, the incident has sparked widespread protests on subway platforms and in the streets of New York. One protester has been detained, according to TMZ and several others went up against NYPD officers on Thursday.
A medical examiner has determined that Neely’s death was a homicide.
