Who was Roy Hodges?

Roy Hodges was a stage manager and fellow actor. He met his wife when they were in their early 20s. They started dating each other while being a part of the same theater company. Hodges later became an art dealer.

Hodges and Jackson tied the knot on August 2, 1958, at the St. Marylebone Register Office in London. The former couple divorced in 1976. Their relationship did not end amicably. Hodges ended up suing Jackson for divorce on the grounds of having an affair with director Andy Phillips.

Phillips was in the production of Hedda Gabler and Jackson was starring in. When she was asked in a 1997 interview if she would describe her split from Hodges as “amicable,” said responded, “I wouldn’t go so far as to say that.” She said that she saw her ex-husband “occasionally.”

Even after her divorce was finalized, she continued to have an on-and-off relationship with Philips. In 1981, the pair called off their relationship for good.

Roy passed away on June 14, 2017. Hodge’s son confirmed the news of his father’s death on Twitter at the time.

He said: “For people asking about me being quiet, I’m afraid my dad died yesterday. Hope to be back soon.”
