Vedaant Madhavan, the son of Bollywood celebrity R Madhavan,
won silver in the Danish Open 2022 swimming competition, according to a video shared by the actor. Vedaant Madhvan won the 1500m freestyle swimming event, clocking a time of 15:57:86.
The Danish Open is a tournament in which non-Danish swimmers compete on an equal footing with Danish swimmers. The competition follows FINA (International Swimming Federation) criteria and is recognised as a qualifying event for the European Championships and the World Championships in 2022.
R Madhavan, an actor and pleased parent, shared a screenshot of the Swimming Federation of India’s proclamation of India’s triumph in the event on Twitter. According to the actor, “With all your blessings & God grace@swim_sajan and @VedaantMadhavan won gold and silver respectively for India, at The Danish Open in Copenhagen. Thank you so much Coach Pradeep sir, SFI and ANSA. We are so Proud (the national flag of India and folded hands emojis).”

Several fans and stars complimented Madhavan on his son’s achievement as soon as the actor posted it on Twitter. Actor Abhishek Bachchan reacted to the post by writing “Congratulations” with clapping hands emojis.
The 51-year-old actor praised his son’s instructor Pradeep Kumar and the Swimming Federation of India for their support in an Instagram post from the felicitation ceremony.
Congratulatory messages poured in from Bollywood celebrities, Esha Deol wrote “Congratulations,” using thumbs-up emojis. “Amazzzze!!” said Ashish Chowdhry in response to the actor’s message. Ronit Bose Roy, Rohit Bose Roy, Esha Gupta, and a slew of other celebrities have expressed their support for the young champ.

Vedaant had previously earned a bronze medal at the Latvia Open in March 2021, as well as seven medals at the Junior National Aquatic Championships last year, four silver and three bronze.

Madhvan made waves in the past by winning seven medals in a swimming tournament in Bengaluru. In Bengaluru, R Madhavan’s son competed in the junior national aquatic championships for Maharashtra. The youngster earned four silver and three bronze medals at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, according to The Athletic. One of Vedaant’s first major accomplishments was earning a medal for India in a swimming competition held in Thailand.

Vedaant turned 16 in August of last year, and his father Madhavan wrote a long letter expressing his pride in his son. “Thank you for beating me at almost everything I am good at and making me jealous yet, my heart swells with pride. I have to learn so much from you my boy. As you step onto the threshold of manhood, I want to wish you a very happy 16th birthday and hope and pray that you’re able to make this world a better place than we can give to you. I’m a blessed father.”
