“Because I knew aunty ‘ji’ (Harris) would win,” was YouTuber Lily Singh’s justification for posting a video announcing Kamala Harris as the Vice-president elect, even before the results were out. Singh, the creator of ‘Sketchy Times’, an NBC primetime comedy special, posted a sketch drawing similarity between Harris and the iconic Lion King.
The YouTuber and talk show host played the characters of Donald Trump, the one with a red cap and a bedazzling Kamala Harris who thrashes the US President for three minutes straight.
Referring Kamala Harris as ‘Simba Aunty’, Singh expressed her wish to see the former California senator as the President (king).
“All jokes aside, regardless of if your select didn’t win, please recognize what a historic moment this is for so many people. A FIRST FOR MANY THINGS. And let’s come together with love love love. AUNTY JI I CANT WAIT FOR YOU TO BE KING. CHAKDEY SIMBA AUNTY (sic),” Lily Singh wrote.
The video starts with the Republican candidate posing doubts about Kamala Harris’ inefficiency as a vice president solely because she is a woman and black.
“With an attitude like that I’m afraid you’ll make a pretty pathetic VP” to which Lilly’s version of Kamala replies, “Well, I’m not gonna let anybody tell me what to do, what to say or even who to fight for. There will never be a president like me.”
The reel-Harris further talks about ‘breaking the glass ceiling’ in four year by supporting ‘trans friends’ to believing that climate change is a real thing, being ‘pro Mary’, break dancing, playing the flute, the promises to reform ‘criminal justice system’ and not victimising people of colour.
Asking the Republicans to watch out as she gears up to break the glass ceiling in 4 years while “perfecting her debate” in the meantime, Lilly’s Kamala sketch pretended to be Simba from The Lion King movie and it is the best thing on Internet today. From, Lilly’s Kamala sketch alerted, “Everybody be ready for a President who is a woman and is not white” and “gets things done” while the lion cub in her roared.
Lilly wrote in the caption, “Kamala Harris Releases Victory Song First stop VP, next stop President!!Y’ALL! THE WAY I HAD THIS VIDEO READY BECAUSE I KNEW AUNTY JI WOULD WIN. AHHH!!! (sic).”
This was just one of the many videos the YouTube sensation had been posting in the praise of the United States’ first woman Vice President-elect.
