Who is Paul Kolbe? 

Paul Kolbe, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Operations Officer and Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center, has been appointed to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group.” This newly established group comprises 17 members from various sectors, tasked with providing advice and perspectives on intelligence and national security efforts.

Kolbe’s inclusion in this expert panel brings a wealth of intelligence experience to the table. Before his role as a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center, he served as a CIA Operations Officer. His expertise in intelligence and security matters is expected to contribute significantly to the DHS’s efforts to safeguard the nation.

The “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group” is set to meet quarterly and will draw upon the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of its members to address complex challenges, including terrorism, the opioid crisis (fentanyl), transborder issues, and emerging technology. The group’s objective is to enhance intelligence and analysis capabilities within the DHS and to strengthen collaboration with federal, state, local, territorial, tribal, campus, and private sector partners.
