Better known as Ant-Man of the Marvel universe, Paul Rudd on Thursday was seen distributing cookies to voters queuing outside the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The 2020 US Presidential Elections has seen an outpour of pre-election day votes (mail-in ballots) with the number crossing more than 75 million, one third of the total registered voters according to a survey of election officials, CNN reported.
People, who came out to vote inspite of the showers early on Thursday, seemed excited to see Rudd there playing his good marvel side off-screen.
Brian Rosenworcel, a drummer’s, told CNN, “I was standing in line and I thought Paul was just there to vote, but then he starts handing out cookies to people in line. And he waited to greet people as they exited to say thanks for voting in the rain.”
Rosenworcel captured the moment on video and posted it to Twitter.
“I want to say thank you for coming out and voting and doing your part,” Rudd is heard saying, his baseball cap and mask covering his face.
Social media saw an upsurge of people praising the 51-year-old actor for encouraging people to vote.
“Paul Rudd is handing out cookies to early voters voting in the rain @ Barclay’s Center. I like him x100 more. Go #VOTE! #VoteEarly #VoteHimOut2020,” a user tweeted.
While talking to Now This, a social media centred news organization, Rudd said, “It should not be hard to vote. People should be getting the day off from work. Polling places should be everywhere. This should be easy, not difficult.”
The 51-year-old has been one of the most active celebrities this election season. He also shot a public service announcement earlier part of the “Mask Up, America” campaign
The Avengers’ stars, including Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Don Cheadle and Robert Downey Jr and Paul Rudd, held a virtual fundraiser for the Joe Biden campaign earlier this month with vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
