At least two people have died and another person critically injured in a stabbing incident at a home in Auckland, a city in New Zealand, on Thursday. A fourth victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the stabbing.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard told local media that the incident took place at a home in Epsom around 11 am on Thursday. He said the officers rushed to the home after receiving reports of a stabbing and found two people with critical stab wounds.
“First aid was immediately provided, however both have sadly died at the scene. A third person found at the property has been taken to hospital with critical injuries,” he told the NZ Herald.
An investigation into the incident was ongoing and the circumstances leading to the stabbing were not known.
The third victim remained hospitalised in critical condition, while the fourth victim has been discharged.
Describing this as a “shocking incident”, Epsom MP David Seymour told the outlet, “This is shocking and tragic for our community…they won’t expect this to happen in their community. There will be a lot of demand for answers but the right thing to do is respect the privacy of neighbours who’ve had this terrible event occur. There will be lots of time for inquest afterwards.”
