Actor Cate Blanchett and ‘Stranger Things’ fame Finn Wolfhard are the latest to join the already heavy star-cast of director Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio’ set to debut on Netflix, reported CBR.

‘Pinocchio’ has been in development since 2008 with Gris Grimly and Mark Gustafson as directors. However, del Toro took over the project in 2012. The project was on the brink of collapse in 2017 as it needed $35 million more in funding. However, in 2018, Netflix acquired the film and is currently set to release it in 2021.

Along with Cate and Finn, ‘Watchmen’ fame Tim Blake Nelson is also set to join the super cast which includes actors such as Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, David Bradley and Gregory Mann.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Pinocchio is also in the making with Robert Zemeckis directing the film with a script from Chris Weitz. Although no cast has been announced yet, the production team is reportedly looking to cast Tom Hanks as Geppetto.
