One year after the deadly storming of the United States Capitol complex, former President Donald Trump said he will host a press conference on January 6, 2022, to mark the anniversary. The event has reportedly been scheduled to discuss the events of the day.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Trump again pressed down on his electoral fraud claims, which he says changed the outcome of the 2020 Presidential polls. The conference will be organised in Florida at Trump’s resort Mar-a-Lago.

“Why isn’t the Unselect Committee of highly partisan political hacks investigating the CAUSE of the January 6th protest, which was the rigged Presidential Election of 2020?”, the former United States President said in his statement, denouncing the works of the January 6 panel set up by the House of Representatives.
The Capitol attack has been commonly referred to as “the insurrection” by multiple politicians this year. However, Trump’s statement sought to change the meaning of it.
He said that “the insurrection took place on November 3rd, it was the completely unarmed protest of the rigged election that took place on January 6th”, attempting to pass on the tag to the recent Presidential elections, according to reports from The Hill.
On the other hand, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a member of the Democratic party, announced that a series of events have already been put in motion to commemorate the January 6 anniversary.

These include a discussion among historians about the narrative of that day, a prayerful vigil in the evening and an opportunity for people to share their experiences and reflections from that day, according to a letter sent from Pelosi’s office to Congressional leaders.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement, “It was a day when our nation’s capital was under attack and I think there’s no question you’ll see us commemorate that day.”
