After the clock strikes 12 pm in the United States on Wednesday, Joe Biden will swear in as the 46th President at the West Front of the Capitol and will speak about the need to bring the country together during an unprecedented moment of crisis, says advisors close to the President-elect.

In his forward-looking theme built around the theme of unity, Biden will reach out to Americans, calling on every citizen to be part of a meeting of the extraordinary challenges the nation is facing, the President-elect advisors, who were not authorised to speak to the press, said.

The 78-year-old’s remarks “will be a forward-looking vision for his presidency… The speech is built around the theme of unity.” 

The speech themed “America United” will likely be for 20-30 minutes.

There is nothing that the US cannot do when “we do it together,” as the President-elect has often said during his campaign trail, Biden’s advisors said.

Biden’s speech writer is Indian American Vinay Reddy, who will be the first person of the origin to be appointed as a presidential speech writer. Reddy, raised in Ohio’s Dayton, was the chief speech writer of Biden when he was the vice president of the US for the second time from 2013 to 2017.

Biden has been drafting his inauguration speech since the start of his presidential transition in November, said The Wall Street Journal, which noted that the Democrat’s speech theme will include unity, bipartisanship and optimism. 

“He wants to use the moment to call Americans to unity,” incoming White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was quoted as saying by The Wall Street Journal.
