Revealing details about his battle with COVID-19, US President Donald Trump on Friday said he was “medication-free”, one week after he was hospitalised with the disease. 

In an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight, Trump said, “Right now I’m medication-free, I’m not taking any medications as of, you know, probably eight hours ago.” The White House described the interview as an on-air “medical evaluation” conducted remotely by Fox contributor doctor Marc Siegel.

The US President said the coronavirus has “sapped” his energy level and he did not feel “vital”. He added that he did not have a “problem with breathing.” Trump, who was put on oxygen supplement atleast twice, later said the lungs tests had shown “some congestion in there.”

The President said he had been retested for the virus. “I have been retested and I haven’t even found out numbers or anything yet but I’ve been retested, and I know I’m at either the bottom of the scale or free.”

Earlier, Trump’s doctors said the President was being treated with an aggressive cocktail of therapeutic drugs, including the steroid dexamethasone that is usually given to the serious cases of COVID-19. 

Trump said he did not know when his next test would be, adding that it was “probably tomorrow.” He said, “They test every couple of days.”

Talking that he did not from where he contracted the virus, Trump, he said, “It’s highly contagious. That’s one thing you learn, this is a contagious disease.”
